Bequests to the Smithsonian Institution

Many of our most dedicated donors choose to create a legacy gift through their will or living trust. Like all donors, they may leave a lasting legacy by establishing an endowment in support of the museum, research center or program of their choice.

Many donors find that planning a legacy at the Smithsonian is a richly rewarding process. We encourage you to assemble a team including your financial and/or legal advisors and Smithsonian development officer from your museum or area of interest. Together with your development officer, you can create a gift agreement, signed by the Smithsonian Institution, which will govern the use of your future gift.
